Text | [Cincinnati vs. Athletics 6/21/1869] Shortly after two o’clock the “Red Stockings” appeared on the field, and were greeted with applause from the immense throng. The callous and “gallus” lads did not bow their acknowledgments, but went to work tossing a ball around while the preliminaries were being settled. |
