Text | President Young, of the League, has not made any reclassification under the new rule, for the reason that none of the clubs have yet sent their annual affidavits showing the amount of salary paid to the various players. He insists that the classification rule is not a dead letter, and predicts that it will be maintained in the best interests of the League. The Sporting Life November 6, 1889 [from Chadwick's column] Here is an interesting paragraph the League magnates had to attend to last month: “The attention of League clubs is respectfully invited to Sec. 32 of the League Constitution, which requires each club to file an affidavit before the 31st inst., setting for the the full amount paid to each player as a salary, bonus, reward, etc. N. E. Young.” Were the aforesaid affidavits sent in? The Sporting Life November 13, 1889 |
