Text	A. G. Spalding & Brothers have purchased the patent of Grey's body protector for base ball catchers, from Wm. Grey, of Hartford. The protector was invented about three years ago and was used for the first time by Tony Murphy, the present catcher of the New Haven Club. Since that time the protector has come into general use, and Mr. Grey has been receiving about $800 a year in royalties. The price paid by Spalding for the patent is $5,000.
