Text | A grand game of ball, according to new and amended rules of 1871, will take place this evening at the Park, between the already famous Excelsiors (one of the finest clubs in the south) and the well known Lone Stars. Both clubs have been practicing almost daily for this contest, and a close and exciting game may be expected. Each club will present its full strength this evening, and as the Excelsiors are no slouches, the Stars will have some trouble to defeat them. The game will commence at half-past three o'clock sharp. Admission free. Ample accommodations made for ladies; and the public in general are cordially invited to witness this grand exhibition of our national pastime. |
