Ovens' column] For the last week it has not been a question as to whether or not there would be a club here in 1889, but rather a question as to what syndicate would secure the prize. This seems about settled now... In the light of all the facts, there seems to be no reason to doubt that the combination of which President Brush is at the head will secure the franchise and players of the collapsed organization. In fact this has never been doubted by some, and among these may be found a few kickers, who charge that the whole scheme was pre-arranged and understood from the start. Personally, I do not believe this, and only a limited number do. |
