Text | [Atlantics vs. Athletics 8/31/1868] A feature of the contest was the restoration of the entente cordiale between the Athletics and their former efficient President, Col. Fitzgerald, the latter being invited to the grounds, well received by all, and finally paid the compliment of being selected to discharge the duties of Umpire, which he did with the thorough impartiality and with but one error in interpreting the rules. |
