Text | The grounds [in Albany] are scarcely wide enough for the purpose, it not being difficult to send a fair ball over the fence both at left and right field, and as the rule of the grounds admits of home-runs for such hits, considerable of a [sic] delay in every game is induced by the efforts of batsmen to send balls to these weak spots, foul balls being thereby too frequently hit. One base only should be allowed for every ball sent over the fence at either side, on the bounds, and two bases for hits which send it over on the fly. |
