Text | It will be a surprise to many if they will be able to explain the matter away when called upon by the Arbitration Committee at their next meeting, a protest having been made against their actions by one or two clubs. The following notice has been sent out by Nick Young: “I am not authorized to declare the contracts made by the Brooklyn with the disbanded Cleveland Club valid and binding in view of the question which has been raised as to whether such contracts were made in accordance with the National agreement.” This would indicate that there was more fun ahead. Brooklyn should not have been in such a great hurry to have been led on by Manager Hacket. It is understood that the Brooklyn management was not offered the first chance, but the clubs to which the offers were first made either did not want the players or did not care to get into trouble. |
