Text | The question of the speediest pitcher in the League has been settled. Charley Ferguson secures the honor. Ex-Umpire John Wilson tells me that, while umpiring last spring, he was hit on the leg by one of Fergy's speedy balls that, although he wore cricket pads, the leg was so badly bruised that it is still discolored from the effects of the blow. He thinks Fergy has more speed than any pitcher living. |
