Text	The picked nine of league players organized to play in Southern cities is now in St. Louis. The aggregation calls itself the Chicago Champions, but is operating wholly outside the control of the Chicago Club. The Chicagos contribute Corcoran, Flint, Kelly, Quest, Williamson, Gore, and Dalrymple, and Cleveland is represented by McCormick and Dunlap. Chicago Tribune October 30, 1881 “The Combination” is the title of the team which is now playing in Southern cities under Frank Flint's management. They were at first advertised as the Chicagos, but President Hulbert telegraphed to Flint forbidding the use of that name. The players are not subject to the control of the Chicago Club, and should not be known as such. Chicago Tribune November 6, 1881
