Six of the “Red Stockings” of Cincinnati, struck with the same bat during 45 games last season, and the bat being broken is now on exhibition in a store in New York City. National Chronicle March 12, 1870

The Atlantic Club of Brooklyn, have on exhibition at their rooms...a bat which has been in use three seasons. It has been used by six and sometimes seven of the nines, in over one hundred match games. The bat is appropriately styled “Old Reliable.” It is good for many a game yet, and will assist the opening of the season by the Atlantics next month on the Capitoline Grounds.
