Text | -It has been rumored that the White Stockings are to be reconstructed. -The White Stockings beat the Experts at Philadelphia by a score of 21 to 2. -The Athletics, of Brooklyn, beat the Stars on Saturday by a score of 14 to 13. -A grand match between the Fearfuls and Wonderfuls has been fixed for the 15th. -The Bradys beat the Eastmans on Saturday, 26 to 14. -The Delawares beat the Tippos on Saturday, 41 to 15. -About a hundred games of base-ball, all of them bad ones, were played on Saturday. -A colored base ball club in Detroit is calling itself the Waving Lillies. -The Kekiongas start on their Eastern tour next Wednesday, and will play all the principal clubs in the East. -Philadelphia, June 12. - The game between the Athletics, of Philadelphia, and the Forest City of Rockford, Illinois, which was to come off to-day, was postponed until Thursday on account of rain. -Baltimore, June 12.-The White Stockings of Chicago defeated the Pastimes, of this city, to-day, by a score of 38 to 17. -Our nation will bat to pieces a half million of base balls this season, it is said. -It sounds somewhat preposterous to think of mills running all the year round turning out bats, but it's so. -Horse hide is used for covering balls. -The Kekiongas beat the Clippers, of Indiana, on Saturday last, 35 to 0. -The White Stockings beat the Olympics (of Philadelphia) on Friday last, 16 to 2. -Who is champion? The Rockfords beat the Athletics and the Chicago beat the Rockfords, therefore Chicago is best. But the Athletics beat the Chicagos, and the Rockfords beat the Athletics, consequently the Rockfords win. And, again, the Chicagos beat the Rockfords, and the Athletics beat the Chicagos, so that the Athletics are champions. You pays your money and you takes your choice. Very much like the famous triangular duel. |
