Text	The ex-champion Unions, once professionals, but now amateurs, will play their first match this season some day this week. They have a strong nine, and will be prominent aspirants for the amateur championship. John Goldie is still wit ht hem, and will play at his old post—first base—where he has always been a terror to feeble batsmen. Hen Austin, formerly centre fielder, will catch, and a first-class swift pitcher will be brought out. Dan Ketchum, Norton, Smith, and akin will be in the nine, and possibly Abrams. Several fine players from junior clubs are candidates for the vacancies, and we see no reason why the Unions should not turn out as strong a team as any they ever had upon the “old triangle” at Melrose.
