Description	Often described as the Cricket grounds, Prairie cricket grounds, Prairie Cricket Club grounds near Bull's Head, West side cricket grounds, West side cricket grounds near Madison St. The Prairie Cricket grounds were nearer Madison and Loomis. Union Park is on an 1862 map in ProtoPix. The 1868 "Guide to Chicago" pp. 119-120 says Union Park contains 16 acres, and is bounded on the north by Lake, on the south by Warren, on the west by Reuben (now, Ashland), and on the east by Byron Place.

Comment	For the exact location, see https://chicagology.com/prefire/prefire128/ The "Bull's Head" was a tavern on the south edge of the Cricket Grounds 1848-75. The Washingtonian House, on the same site, was listed as 568 W. Madison on the 1887 Chicago Directory. The Chicago Tribune, June 3, 1900, has a lot on the Bull's Head Tavern and the area. Says the old cattle yard was in the rear of the se corner of Madison and Ogden Aves. In 1861 the Union Park House (hotel) was built across the street from the Bull's Head.
