Data | The game “pize ball” appeared as an analogy in a newspaper column about a football match between the Burnley (Lancashire) team and Sheffield. The writer was critical of the shots taken by one of the Burnley forwards, and referring to the Sheffield goalie wrote: “A critic declares that some of the shots which Allen had to clear reminded him of his youth when he played at 'pize ball.' In other words, they were far too gentle.” |
