Data | The fact that "base-ball" was originally English was briefly acknowledged in a journal column of short news blurbs entitled "Our Weekly Gossip": "The English cricketers are reported to have taken to the 'American game' of base ball. This game was English before it was American. 'Multa renascentur (apud Unitedstatesienses) quæ jam cecidere (apud nos).'" |
