Data | A newspaper reported that "base-ball" was among the pastimes played by students of the Silverdale School of Hastings, East Sussex, at a treat. After leaving the school and marching "with banners flying" to a meadow, "they were distributed, according to their classes, in detachments, and delighted themselves with all sorts of amusements, such as racing, jumping, base-ball, &c." |
