Data | The term “base ball” was used analogously in a review of the New Alhambra Theatre that appeared in a newspaper in the North Sea town of Hartlepool in County Durham. The pertinent sentence reads as follows: “Mr. Macdonald opened the second half of the programme, and made way for the Avringny Trio, jugglers of no mean ability, who flung round lighted torches with all the ease of children playing at base ball.” |
