Data | “Base ball” was reported to be among the games played at the annual fete for members of the Mechanics Institute of West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The festivities were held on the vicarage grounds where, following a concert by Mr. John Youens and his celebrated Saxhorn Band, “the company now began to assemble and swinging,, trap bat, base ball, drop glove, &c. were the order of the day.” |
