Data | “Bass ball” was played along with other games at the annual summer treat for children of the Congregational Band of Hope of the town Buckinghamshire, held on a nearby estate. A newspaper reported that “the weather, though cloudy, was fine and pleasant, and from 2 o'clock till 4-30 various games including cricket, bass ball, captain, French tag, &c., were freely indulged in and thoroughly enjoyed.” |
