Data | “Bass-ball” was among the pastimes enjoyed by teachers and students of the Wesleyan Sunday School of the town of Buckinghamshire at their annual treat held in a nearby field. According a newspaper report, “the scholars met at the Schoolroom about half-past 1 o'clock, and marched in procession through the town to the field, where various games, including cricket, bass-ball, races, swings, &c., were indulged in by the children till 4 o'clock, at which time they all sat down to tea.” |
