Data | “Base ball” was one of the entertainments available to the large crowds in attendance at the Parochial Schools Festival of Chesham, a market town in Buckinghamshire. A newspaper reported that “Cricket, base ball, drop glove, and various other games were kept up in different parts of the Grove, and the bells of the church rang out their merry peals at intervals during the day.” |
