The weather was excessively hot, not withstanding which, an immense concourse of ladies and gentlemen assembled to witness the sport. We understand that on both sides there was some very fine playing. It will be seen that the Tri-Mountain Club came out ahead. It may not be amiss to say, that two or three of the best players of the Portland Club were necessarily absent, and substitutes had to be obtained. When the result of the game was announced, the Portland boys game three hearty cheers to their victors, resolved when the <em>final</em> trial game came off, that the Tri-Mountains should cheer them."
