Data | It was reported that "bass ball" was one of the pastimes offered at the annual festival of the Sunday Schools belonging to the Nonconforming bodies of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, a gathering of 900 children in all. "The weather was delightfully fine, and in the evening the number of visitors continued to increase. Games at cricket, bass ball, pony riding, swings, and the various other pastimes usual on such occasions were kept up with spirit till the shades of evening compelled them to relinquish them." |
