Description | The Chicago Tribune, Oct. 27, 1869, reports that the "Farwell nine" of Chicago beat the Crown Point, IN base ball club 35-34 at Crown Point Monday last, even though the Farwells played a man short (8 vs. 9). Presumably this nine was sponsored by the wealthy Farwell family, Chicago dry goods merchants. |
