Description | The Stark County News, Sept. 24, Oct. 22, 1869, reports on a 3-game home and home series between the Blue Stockings of Kewanee (said to be champions of Henry County) and the Mollie Starks of Toulon. Toulon won the first game 38-22 on Sept. 23rd. The third game was won by Toulon 39-30 Oct. 20th at La Fayette. A box score is given. The Wyoming (IL) Post, Aug. 1, 1874 mentions the Mollie Stark club of Toulon. Mollie Stark was the wife of Revolutionary War hero General John Stark, for whom Stark County IL was named. |
