Description | Morris, "Base Ball Founders" pp. 299-302 says the Lightfoot claimed to have started in 1850 and played by the MA rules pre-Civil War. It reorganized in 1865, which is when it played a documented game Aug. 18 on the Brookfield Commons, against a Brookfield club. They switched to the national rules in 1866. The Boston Daily Advertiser, Sept. 4, 1866 has the Lightfoot of North Brookfield playing the Nemanseck of Ware. The North Brookfield Annual Report, 1859-61, Feb. 13, 1860 report says the Lightfoot BBC owes the town $5.00. |
