Wright's Grove was on North Clark Street, between North Broadway and Diversey. It was the site of the Civil War Camp Fry, a training camp for Union soldiers. The location was then in Lake View, which was annexed by Chicago in 1889.

It was a popular spot to play in 1867. On Aug. 21, 1867, the Chicago 2nd nine defeated the Alpha Club 41-21 there.

The Chicago Tribune, June 27, 1874 reports on an accident in a ballgame between 2 Lake View muffin nines.

Same, July 7, 1875 has the "Lake View Base-ball nine" defeating a picked nine of the community, 21-8.

Lake View (aka Lakeview) town/township was annexed by Chicago in 1889.
