Location Baltimore, MD, United States
Modern Address Near Druid Hill Park
Description

The Excelsior Club grounds is said to be near Madison and Boundary (now, North) Avenues. See Baltimore Exchange, July 13, 1859, April 2, 30, 1860. This would be just south of modern Druid Hill Park, and at/near the Monumental Park mentioned in Lowrey's "Green Cathedrals."  See also Morris, "Base Ball Pioneers." McKenna, "Baltimore Baseball: The Beginning, 1858- 1872"

The Excelsior Club moved to these new grounds (from Flat Rocks) in 1859. For the exact location, see Ken Mars, "Early Baltimore Ballparks" in SABR's "Baltimore Baseball" (2021). The (later) Madison Avenue Grounds were just to the east.
