Description

The Prairie Farmer, Sept. 21, 1867: "Champaign County Fair... A new feature in the fair was base ball playing, there being clubs present from Danville, Paxton, Urbana and Champaign. The Umpires [sic. Empires?] of Champaign were victors after a three days' battle."

Urbana had 2,277 residents in 1870.
