Description | The Chicago Inter Ocean, May 12, 1894 says Melrose Park defeated the Lincolns of Chicago today at Melrose Park. The Oak Park Vindicator, May 24, 1895: "Melrose Park... On Thursday afternoon next week an unusually interesting game of baseball will be played..." This was the Decoration Day game between River Forest and Melrose Park, to be played at Melrose Park. Melrose Park played as part of a "West Suburban League" that included Maywood, Austin, River Forest, Jefferson and Montclaire. See the Chicago Inter Ocean, June 15, 1895. Melrose Park was founded in 1893. It had 2592 residents in 1900. |
