Description | "A match game is to be played at Meadville, shortly between the Base Ball Clubs of Erie and Titusville. So it is stated." Jamestown [NY] Journal, June 27, 1862. Accessed 5/21/2009 via subscription search. Meadville is about 35 miles S of Erie PA and 25 miles W of Titusville. Miller, "History of Erie County, Pennsylvania" v. 1 p. 831, 852 gives the officers of this club in 1866, and says there was an Eclipse Club in the city in that year. |
