Description | (return match – 5 innings) (BDE: “Only five innings on each side were played, as the tornado of dust that came up about 4 o’clock interrupted the proceedings, and the rain that followed shortly afterward, put a stop to the play. About 4,000 people were collected on the grounds, and quite a bevy of the fair ladies of this city occupied the seats the Atlantics had gallantly provided for them. Admirable order was kept on the ground by the members of the Club, and but for the weather everything would have passed off pleasantly.”) (NYC: called on account of “sudden storm of wind, dust, and rain” … Nearly 5,000 people were present.”) |
