Description | The Kendall County Record, Sept. 12, 1867 reports that they have a base ball club in Newark, which tied the Sandwich Juniors 62-62 last week. This may be the Eureka Club of Newark. See Chicago Evening Post, May 29, 1868. Same Aug. 28, 1873 mentions an XL Club of Newark. The Ottawa Free Trader, July 29, 1876: "From Sandwich... The Newark Base Ball Club came over and played a 'scrub' nine of this place a matched game the other day, and with this result--but seven innings being played." Newark 16, Sandwich 5. |
