Anonymous correspondent from Norwich, Chenango County, NY, in the *Utica
Morning Herald:

"The modern Base Ball game-- emasculated by abolishing the bumping a man out with the ball when off the byes-- meets no favor here. It is voted effeminate and best adapted to semi-men and girls in boarding schools."

'Nuff said.
