Description

Describing "Base, or Goal Ball", author Robin Carver diagrammed a diamond- shaped arrangement of bases, the first association of diamond with the game.

Later, the adoption of equidistance between the bases rendered the arrangement a square, but the the use of "diamond" has persisted.
