Description | The Ottawa Free Trader, Aug. 27, 1870: "Forrest, Livingston County, Aug. 12, 1870. Messrs. Editors--The most exciting game of base ball of the season was played last Saturday between the Morning Stars of Forrest, and the Mechanics of Pontiac." Forrest won 78-37. The letter complains that the Pontiac team so abused the umpire, "Cahill of the Chatsworth club" that he quit, and had to be replaced. |
