Chicago Inter Ocean, Aug. 14, 1877: "Oakland. The Oakland Base Ball Club defeated the Aldines on Saturday by a score of 17 to 11."

Oakland was a development south of  Chicago, named in 1871. This "elite neighborhood" later became part of Chicago. It's located on the Lake, near 41st St.
