Description

According to www.sandwichhistory.org, the first game was played in Sandwich in Nov. 1865. The Nichols team was officially formed June 1866, and named after sea captain Edward Nichols, who donated the use of his vacant lot for the team to play on.

The Barnstable Patriot, Jan. 15, 1867 notes the Ball given by the Nichols BBC of Sandwich.

Same, Aug. 13, 1867 has the Nichols playing the Cummaquid of Barnstable.

Same, Sept. 3, 1867, says Sandwich has four BBCs--the Nichols, Independent, Shawnee and American.
