Description

The Chicago Tribune, June 21, 1862 reports on an excursion by the Congregational churches of Chicago, to a picnic spot one mile from Aurora on the Fox River, where they played a "game of ball." No details are given, except that it involved running around, wasn't quoites, and wasn't foot-ball (which foot-ball was specifically mentioned as being played).
