Description | The Milwaukee Daily Sentinel, Sept. 2, 1867, cites the Lafayette County Union as reporting that Darlington recently lost a base ball game to Mineral Point, 40-34. Per Hibbard, "Platteville," p. 45, on June 8, 1867 the Normal School team lost to the Darlington BBC 16-15 at Strawberry Diggings in Lafayette County. Lafayette County Democrat, June 28, 1867, mentions this club. Darlington is the county seat of Lafayette County. It had 1,372 residents in 1880. |
