Description | The Abingdon Virginian, May 17, 1867 reports that a baseball club was formed in the town May 13. Same, Nov. 1, 1867 reports that on Nov. 2 the Abingdon club will play the Herculean Club of Emory and Henry College. The “Athletics” of Bristol lost to the Abingdon club 73-36 at King College “last Saturday.” Bristol News, May 26, 1874. Abington VA (current pop. about 8000) is in SW VA near the Tennessee border. King College is in Bristol TN, very near the VA border. |
