The Cherokee Advocate, June 27, 1888: "The soldier (Ft. Gibson) Base Ball Club will play the Tahlequah Club a match game of ball on the 5th of July..."

Same July 11, 1888 calls the Fort Gibson club the Blues.

Fort Gibson has been around since 1832, and an army camp prior to that.
