Description

The Vinita Indian Chieftain, Feb. 14, 1884: "the match game of base ball which was to have taken place on the Academy grounds last Saturday, between a schoolboy nine and a team picked from among the young men about town, has been indefinitely postponed."

Same, July 12, 1888 and July 24, 1890, makes clear that Vinita had an organized team by then.

Vinita was established in 1871.
