Description | The Chicago Tribune, May 31, 1868, has an article on the new grounds of the Excelsior club, on State St. near 23rd, a fenced in area 475 x 700 "perfectly smooth and level" with an amphitheater for the fans and facilities for the players. According to Morris, "Base Ball Pioneers" p. 215, the Enterprise and Eureka BBCs co-leased this property. There's a long wikipedia article on this site. See also Tribune, Aug. 7, 1868. |
