Description | The (Brownville, Nemaha County) Nebraska Advertiser, July 28, 1870, reports that the Banner BBC of St. Deroin beat the Nemaha BBC 107-78 "last Thursday" (the 21st). St. Deroin is described in the Wikipedia as "a ghost town in Nemaha County, originally located below the river bluffs on the Missouri River. Formally chartered in 1854, the town had a popular ferry crossing over the Missouri River for more than three decades." But the Missouri River changed course, grounding the river traffic. Adieu, St Deroin. From another source: "The St. Deroin Baseball Club was organized and played in uniform at the Nemaha County Fair in 1869." http://www.visitnemahacounty.org/history/stderoin.cfm. |
