Description | The Eufaula Indian Journal, Sept. 30, 1886, under the headline "The Base Ball Game," tells of a game between a McAlester team and the Eufaula Browns. McAlester was leading 8 to 7 when disputes of the umpire's calls, and approaching darkness, cause the game to be halted. The Muskogee Phoenix, May 10, 1888, calls the McAlester team the Lone Stars. McAlester (famous as a location of the movie True Grit) was founded around 1872. |
