Description

Dodge City Times, July 20, 1878, says that on the Fourth of July the town celebrated with a "picnic; dancing on the ground; base ball;..."

The game probably made it to Dodge City earlier. There is a story that future Hall of Famer Charles Comiskey attended St. Mary's College here circa 1875, and played baseball with future manager Ted Sullivan.
