The New York Daily Herald, Monday Oct. 27, 1845, has an article critical of Sunday goings on, including "a game of base ball" the day before played at "Fort Greene, in the immediate vicinity of the County Jail."

Fort Greene is a neighborhood in Brooklyn. The jail mentioned is undoubtedly the old Raymond Street jail, located at the modern corner of Ashland Place and Willoughby.
