Description | The Oak Park Lake Vindicator, Sept. 1, 1883, notes that "a base-ball contest" was played at the annual picnic of Chicago's St. George's Society, at Willow Springs. Willow Springs is a lake on the Des Plaines River. Willow Springs was founded in 1892 as Spring Forest, with the merger of the communities of Mt. Forest (founded 1873) and Willow Springs. The town was renamed Willow Springs in 1937. |
